Why 1013?
1013 isn't
a random number.
It's part of a wonderful story.
The reason for the name
Romans 10:13
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
It is a remarkable promise.
But how can it
be true?
Let's start at the beginning.

God created us.
God is the beginning of the story. He created everything that exists, and everything He made was good.
Human beings were made uniquely in His image: to know Him, to live in relationship with Him, to represent Him, and to enjoy His creation.
God saw everything that he had made, and it was very good.
Made by God.
Made for God.

We rebelled.
Humanity distrusted God's goodness and rejected His rule. Sin entered the world, bringing shame, separation, suffering, and death.
The problem did not end with Adam and Eve. Every one of us has joined that rebellion, and none of us can repair the relationship ourselves.
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
SIN → DEATH
We need more than self-improvement.
More than good deeds.
We need a Savior.

God promised rescue.
Even in our rebellion, God did not abandon humanity. Across generations, He promised that evil would be defeated, every nation would be blessed, and an everlasting King would one day come.
Across thousands of years, the scriptures predicted a suffering servant who would bear the sins of others.
God would send a Redeemer.

Then, the promised Redeemer came.
The Creator entered His creation.
God the Father loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son to save us. The eternal Son of God - Jesus Christ - took on flesh and lived among us. He ate, drank, laughed, cried, faced temptation - just like us. The difference - Jesus committed no sin. He lived the perfect life we failed to live.
Jesus is more than another teacher, king, or prophet. He is God with us. He welcomed sinners, healed the sick, forgave sins, and showed authority over creation, evil, disease, and death. He lived the life humanity had failed to live.
He came to Earth.
He dwelt among us.
He committed no sin.

Jesus died and was buried.
Although Jesus was innocent, He was arrested, beaten, and executed by crucifixion - one of the most painful forms of execution. The one who had no sin willingly stood in the place of those who did.
But Jesus did not have His life taken from Him. He laid it down willingly, bearing the judgment we sinners deserved so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God. Why? Because He LOVES US.
It is finished.
Then, silence.

But the story wasn't over.
On the third day, the tomb was empty. Jesus physically rose from the dead and appeared to His disciples and many other witnesses, before ascending to heaven to once again sit on His throne.
Death and sin were conquered. Jesus reigns today as the promised King with all authority in heaven and on earth. He is not merely someone to admire. He is the risen Lord. The Alpha and Omega. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Jesus is alive.

We are called to respond.
The gospel is not advice about becoming good enough for God. It is good news about what God has already done through Jesus. Salvation is freely given by God's grace; it cannot be earned.
Our invitation is to repent—to turn from sin and toward God—and to trust who He is, what He accomplished on the cross, and that God raised Him from the dead.
Grace.
Turn. Trust. Follow.
The promise is true
Not because calling out is a work that earns salvation.
Because the Lord we call upon has already accomplished everything needed to save us.
Jesus
He came. He died. He rose. He lives and reigns.
And everyone who trusts in Him can be reconciled to God and given life.
What now?
Trust Christ,
then keep walking.
There is no formula to perform and no scripted prayer that earns salvation. Turn honestly from sin, place your trust in Jesus, and speak to God in your own words.
